Boating and Cruising

It is possible to make harbour and river tours in most of the big cities in Australia. Sydney offers harbour tour possibilities while river tours can be done in Melbourne on Yarra River, in Brisbane on Brisbane River and in Perth on Swan River. You can enjoy Murray River in South Australia and Tamar River in Tasmania on the paddle wheel streamer. Other than these, many catamarans and sailing boats bring the tourists from the coastal cities to Great Barrier Reef for snorkelling, diving and swimming. During the high season, whale and dolphin watching activities are also provided daily by several tour operators.

In addition to day trips like those above, long time sailing opportunities are offered by numerous companies as well. Discover stunning Northern Australia on a 10 day sailing tour from Cape Tribulation to Kimberleys. If you plan ahead you can even celebrate Christmas on the sailing boat!

Boating and cruising are also very common hobbies among Australians. At many coastal cities it is possible to rent sailing boats, yachts and small ships with or without crew. The most popular places to head to are Broken Bay (in New South Wales), Hawkesbury River (near Sydney), Whitsunday Passege (in Queensland), Murray River and Gippsland Lakes (in Victoria) and, last but not the least, Great Barrier Reef.
