Travelling by Plane in Australia

The fastest and most common way to arrive Australia is taking a plane. The fastest means of transport inside Australia is also airplane. Due to the huge distances, there are domestic and international airports in all of the big cities as well as some of the most popular touristic regions.

International airports are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin and Adelaide. Domestic airports are available in all of these cities and in several small cities. Keep in mind that the domestic and international airports are seperated in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. In these cities domestic and international airports are located in different parts of the city. Shuttles and taxis are available to travel from one airport to another.

The national airline of Australia is Qantas. Virgin Blue and Jetstar (owned by Qantas) are the cheapest airlines, transporting many tourists around. Despite Virgin Blue's lower price, the market is dominated by Qantas. For tourists who come from abroad (and have a flight ticket), there is the possibility to buy discounted flight-pass from Qantas. Boomerang pass is just one of the possibilities.

The travellers are encouraged to book their flight as early as possible in Australia. Early reservations bring lower price advantage but inflexibility disadvantage since such tickets are usually non-refundable. Nevertheless, it is allowed to change the flight dates by paying some penalty, if necessary.
