Traveling by Bus in Australia
There are long distances between the big cities and touristic places in Australia. Many big cities are connected to each other with interurban bus lines. In addition to many small companies, two main companies used to offer Australia-wide coach services. Greyhound Pioneer Australia and McCafferty's Coach Services. After purchasing Greyhound Pioneer Australia in 2000, McCafferty's turned to be the only National Coach Services in Australia. The company changed its name to Greyhound Australia and started to use the famous Greyhound logo. Below is the contact information of Greyhound Australia:

These coaches offer relatively good priced traveling possibilities and it is worth to investigate the advantage of getting a kilometer pass or an explorer pass. Since the coaches are optimized for long journeys, they are usually equipped with air-conditioner, toilets and video service. Smoking is forbidden on the buses.
Other than the scheduled coach services, many tour operators offer day or multiday bus trips to different touristic places. Blue Mountains in Sydney, Great Ocean Road trip in the south of Australia and Ayers Rock/Uluru tour (continues for usually 3 days) from Adelaide are some of these bus excursions. These trips can be booked from tourist info centres as well as at every hostel.
