How to Dress Up in Australia

Since Australia is bigger than continental Europe, it is possible to experience 4 seasons at the same time at different parts of the country. On the coastal line, the weather is usually mild but it may get cool during the night depending on the season. At the inner parts of the country, so to say outback, the weather can get pretty cold after sunset. Therefore, even in summer time, it is wise to have a pullover with.

In winter, especially the southern parts of Australia are colder than the rest of the country and the temperature can go down significantly. Having a ~6C minimum and ~15C maximum day temperature in July is pretty common in Melbourne. At the inner parts of Victoria, the temperature can easily fall below zero.

Weather is one reason to dress up carefully. Taking a walk in the nature in the outback is an other. Especially in case of walking in the bush and off track, it is strongly recommended to put on shirts with long sleeves, long pants, gaiters and , last but not the least, thick socks. Also shoes with thick soles should be preferred.

Sunbathing in Australia is also a must for every tourist. Nevertheless, it is important to never ignore the time while under the sun. In the meanwhile, keeping a t-shirt on helps protecting the body from the dangerous effect of the sun. Carrying thongs reduces the risk of injury both on the beach and while swimming.
