Climate of Sydney
Sydneysiders enjoy oceanic climate that can be characterized as warm in summer (December to February) and mild in winter (June to August). The average maximum temperature in summer is around 25 degrees while it is unusual that the temperature goes below 5 degrees in winter. Extremes started to happen more often due to global warming where the temperature can rise above 40 degrees in summer. Statistically, the warmest month is January and the coldest is July. Just keep in mind that it is recommended to avoid being under the sun from 11am to 15pm during summer months. If this is not possible, a good sun protection (hat, sunblock and light dresses) is a must.
Unlike tropical climate, Sydney doesn't have dedicated wet and dry seasons. The rainfall is distributed throughout the year. Nevertheless, it is possible to say that it rains less in spring (September to November) and the rainfall is minimum in December. In every case, it is possible to make a convenient visit to Sydney almost all year around due to the high amount of sunny and mild days.
