Climate of Perth

Perth has typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers (December to February) and mild winters (June to August). Although average maximum temperature is around 28-30 degrees, extremes may be experienced from time to time in summer where the temperature climbs above 40 degrees. Winters are cool but never cold during the day while subzero night temperature, can be called as extreme, has been recorded due to the increasing effect of global warming. Springs and autumns are convenient with more comfortable temperatures.

Perth is the most sunny capital city in Australia. The rainfall in summer is pretty little compared to the rest of the year and is maximum during the winter. Rain usually falls as showers with accompanying thunderstorms in summer.

When to visit Perth? Totally depends on your taste! If you like heat then February would be the best choice. December and January are cooler than February, spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) months are neither hot nor cold. Just decide on your favorite climate and keep in mind to have proper sun protection (hat, sunblock and light dresses) if you can not avoid being under the sun from 11am to 15pm during summer.
