Climate of Melbourne

Melbourne is pretty dry in Summer. Springs are sunny with blue skies most of the time. Winters have some foggy days and changable weather. The rainfall is distributed more or less equally to the whole year so there is no wet or dry season. In general, the weather is pretty comfortable for discovering Melbourne during most of the year.

Melburnians enjoy a mild oceanic climate. The temperatures are reasonable throughout the whole year except some extremes. Winters (June to August) can be cold but it rarely snows in Melbourne. The mountains, in the surroundings, get some snow from time to time. On the other hand, strong winds and frost can be expected in the city centre. The weather in summer (December to February) can be between warm and hot where some days with over 40 degrees might come up in extreme cases. During autumn and spring, the temperatures are pleasant but often changable. It is pretty common to have almost 30 degrees on one day and 15 on the next. But in general, the day temperatures are mild and night temperatures are lower.
