Climate of Brisbane

The "sunny" Brisbane has a subtropical climate. In general, summers are very hot and humid with an average of over 30 degrees while winters are pretty mild with an average of 17 degrees. Nevertheless, some extremes are to be expected due to global warming where a summer day can be as hot as 43 degrees and a winter day as cold as subzero (19 July 2007). Visitors should always make sure to be protected from the sun properly at all times. Keep in mind that a couple of minutes under the summer sun can burn a sensitive skin surprisingly easily. It is recommeded to stay indoors from 11am to 3pm or use a hat, sunblock and protective clothing, in case this is not possible.

Brisbane is famous of being very sunny with in average of 8 hours of sunshine per day throughout the whole year. Most rain falls during summer months (December to February) and thunderstorms are also common during this time which is called as "wet season". Dry season is from May to October and is the best time to visit Brisbane due to much less rainfall and more convenient temperatures.
