Perth Zoo
Perth Zoo is a great place to spend a day and enjoy observing a variety of plants and animals. For some time, it has even been home to 3 polar bears. Can you believe? Nowadays, there are no polar bears around anymore but out of over 1300 animals and 200 species, some can only be seen in Perth Zoo. Due to its close location to the city, the zoo also attracts numerous wild birds that decide to nest on their most favorite spots inside. In addition to the stunning bird collection of the zoo, these casual guests are like a magnet for bird watchers. The zoo is also famous of taking active part in conservation of the endangered species. The whole facility is very well organized in different sections to demonstrate each continent's animal world and plant collection. African Savannah and Asian Rainforest have not disappointed any visitors yet. Australian and South American faunas are simply fascinating!
Perth Zoo is located very close to the city centre on the banks of Swan River. The best way to get there is taking the bike or the ferry to Mends Street Jetty. Taking the ferry is especially charming when the weather is nice since it provides the opportunity to combine a spectacular river tour with the zoo visit. Buses are also available. They depart from Perth CBD and make a stop in front of the zoo.
Whenever you come up with the idea of visiting Perth Zoo, you can simply assume that it is open. Please note that Perth Zoo has not closed for a single day since 1898. Incredible but true! The zoo is open from 9am to 5pm everyday. Don't miss the free walking tours with Perth Zoo volunteers. Learn while watching!
Enjoy your day!
