Swan Bells Tower
Swan Bells Tower is one of the unique attractions in Perth. The tower contains 12 bells of St Martin-in-the-Fields. These bells are known to be around 700 years old and they have traveled around the world ringing out for several events. It is not a machine that rings them but people! Surprising eh? A society has been founded just for this purpose. Volunteer members of St. Martin's Society of Change Ringers Inc. ring the bells almost everyday at noon time. The exact time depends on the day of the week. It is even possible to take an 8 week course to learn to be a bell ringer! Also offered by St. Martin's Society of Change Ringers...
It is possible to enjoy Swan Tower without listening to the bells as well. The tower has a great location on the banks of Swan River. The view over the river is simply fabulous. The tower consists of 3 levels. One level is sort of a museum where it is demonstrated "how time was kept in the past". Many historical instruments and such can be seen here. One level up is exactly where the 12 historical bells are actually located. And the top floor is the observation deck. Take in 360 degree spellbinding view of Perth... Award your eyes with fascinating view of Swan River. And don't forget to bring your camera! Document this experience to make your colleagues jealous back at home...
Swan Bells are very easily reachable from Perth CBD. Blue Cat drops the visitors in front of the tower at Barrack Square stop.
Swan Bells Tower opens everyday at 10am.
