Perth

Perth, the capital city of Western Australia...Have you ever seen a black swan? Sounds strange but true! Perth is established on the banks of Swan River, named after Australian Black Swans that are completely black except their red beak and a couple of feathers on their wings. The natural beauty of the city has always been appreciated and played a significant role in the rapid increase of the population. As Perth was founded, in 1829, the free settlers from England and Ireland were the only inhabitants. Today Perth is the capital city of Western Australia and is home to 1,5 million people from all over the world. More than a quarter of the inhabitants were born overseas and at least that many people have an overseas born parent. This alone says enough about the multicultural characteristic of this lovely city.

Perth Skyline, WAThe biggest disadvantage of Perth is its distance to the biggest cities in Australia like Sydney and Melbourne. The distance between Perth and Sydney is just like from one side of Europe to the other. But despite this isolation, Perth has been growing faster than expected. Still it is one of the capital cities with the lowest population density. So there is enough place for everyone!

Perth is a lovely city to spend a couple of days but there is more to discover in Western Australian Outback. When you have seen enough of the city, use it as a base camp and step in the world of adventure. Answer the call of nature...
