Kalbarri National Park

Kalbarri National Park covers over 183,000 hectares and hosts unique rock formations that must be seen at least once in a lifetime. No wonder that the park is one of the most popular among all... Murchison River, crosses Kalbarri National Park all the way from south to north on the way to the ocean, took an important part in the creation process of the spectacular gorges that display red and white bands. The Loop, Z Bend, Hawkes Head Lookout and Ross Graham Lookout Gorges are all equipped with numerous lookouts over Murchison River and easy walking tracks. The Loop is the richest one from lookouts point of view and Nature's Window, a natural arch situated perfectly like a frame around a magnificent Murchison River view, is a true masterpiece of the nature.

Murchison River Gorges are the best places to take excellent Murchison River photos. Please keep in mind that the beauty of the rugged coastline is at least that splendid. Red Bluff, Pot Alley Gorge, Rainbow Valley, Eagle Gorge, Shell House, Mushroom Rock, Island Rock and the Natural Arch... Each one is more sensational than another.

21 plant species will make you feel like in paradise at Kalbarri National Park. Wild flowers blossom from late July through spring and into early summer, creating a colorful picture. You can not stop looking at them. And the native animals... Emus, grey kangaroos, wedge-tailed eagles and thorny devil are only some of the inhabitants who welcome the visitors. Simply follow some of the walking trails and please don't forget to take enough water (no drinking water is available in the park) with you.

Kalbarri National Park is located almost 600km north of Perth and 160km south of Geralton where the nearest airport is also situated. Most of the transportation can be done on sealed roads but short unsealed tracks exist as well. Only backpacking camping is allowed at the gorges in the park and no other accommodation is provided but in Kalbarri Town, accommodation and a couple of shops for the daily needs are available.
