Esperance

Esperance, a true masterpiece of the nature...Esperance is one of the most gorgeous regions in Australia. The town itself is not only lovely but also a perfect base to discover a bunch of the most spectacular attractions in Australia, some of which are unique!

There are 5 big national parks in the surroundings of Esperance. Cape le Grand National Park is the most popular. The border of the park is around 60km away from Esperance and it is famous of its magnificent white sand beaches. Drop by to Lucky Bay and make a picture of a kangaroo, enjoying a sunny day... This is not a joke! There are not so many other beaches in Australia where kangaroos occasionally prefer for sunbathing.

One of the local friendlies in Esperance...Have you ever seen a pink lake? Pink Lake is pink. Incredible but true! The lake turns pink, due to a pigment in the algae living in the lake, Dunalella Salina, depending on the weather, time of the day and the amount of salt in the water. You won't believe your eyes!

Recherche Archipelago is just 1km away from the shore and consists of around 200 islands. Most of the islands have a rocky nature and they are full of wildlife. Seals are one of the most popular inhabitants in the region while dolphins, sea eagles and whales can also be seen in the surroundings. The area offers great swimming, snorkeling and diving possibilities in stunning crystal clear waters and a rich underwater world that you can not stop watching.

Out of the over 200 islands in the archipelago, only Woody Island is open to the public and ferries depart daily from Esperance. An option would be taking boat tours and guided tours to not to miss anything.

Just one of the numerous magnificent beaches in Esperance...And the beaches... There are numerous fabulous beaches close to Esperance and it is a tough decision to select one to spend the day. Lucky Bay and Twilight Cove are like in fairy tales. The coast also contains Blue Haven Beach, Salmon Beach, Fouth Beach, Nine Mile Beach and Eleven Mile Beach. All of these beaches are located on Twilight Beach Road. The more time you have the more you can explore.

The most recommended way to see all of the above is taking a Great Ocean Drive. This is a 38km route starting from Esperance and making a ring covering all of the attractions above. Just hit the road and make a stop at wherever you feel like it... You'll be amazed every time you give a break!

The climate of Esperance is similar to the one of Perth with hot summers and mild winters. The amount of rain increases in winter and almost no rainfall occurs in summer.

Esperance is located around 900km southeast of Perth on Southern Ocean Coast. It is possible to drive the whole route through the highway or another option would be taking a 1.5 hour flight from Perth to Esperance Airport.
