Coral Bay

Canoeing at Coral Bay, WAThe most popular attraction in Coral Bay certainly is Ningaloo Marine Park. The marine park (shortly reef), has its southern end at Armherst Point, located slightly on the south of Coral Bay. Just "take a walk" to the reef and find yourself in a spellbinding underwater world. Enjoy snorkeling, watching the fascinating members of this paradise and if you are in search of a new challenge, please remember that Coral Bay is one of the most magnificent places in the world to learn diving. You may wish to take the chance to observe whale sharks from nearby and swim together with them to increase the dose of the adventure. Unfortunately, this is only possible during the time (between April and June) when the sharks come along for feeding.

Manta Rays at Coral Bay, WAThose who prefer to get further away from the shore without getting wet, can take the cruises on glass bottom boats. Go for animal watching... Welcome humpback whales, manta rays, turtles and dugongs as they drop by during their journey to the north. They show up between July and November so you should make sure to be there at the right time. Since Coral Bay has a warm and dry tropical climate, the average maximum temperature remains over 25 degrees most of the time. So the time of the visit can easily be decided according to the availability of the favorite attractions.

By the way, have you ever driven a quad-bike? As can be guessed from the name, a quad-bike is a four wheel motorbike which makes it easier to travel through sand dunes and visit beaches, cliffs and spectacular lookouts. Shortly it is fun! Try driving one if you have a valid driving licence.

Coral Bay is located between Carnarvon and Exmouth. Both cities have a domestic airport of their own. Renting a car from these airports or driving the whole way from Perth (around 1000km) are the only options to get to Coral Bay. If you prefer a long drive to experience the complete region of Coral Coast, a couple of more attractions can be seen on the way.
