St Helens

St Helens is the largest town on the east coast of Tasmania and it is a popular touristic destination nowadays. The climate of the town especially gets attention since it is unusually warm compared to Tasmanian average temperatures. The reason for that is the magnificent landscape of St Helens. St Helens is established on Georges Bay. The beaches in the area are some of the most beautiful ones in Tasmania. Swimming and surfing possibilities are abundant. Furthermore, Binalong Bay and Bay of Fires are like a magnet for those who have dedicated themselves to find the whitest sand beach in the world. Moreover, Bay of Fires also attracts divers with its mysterious underwater caves that are home to a fascinating underwater world.

St Helens is game fishing capital of Tasmania. The whalers were the first ones who settled down in the area. Today, St Helens Game Fishing Tournament is the highlight of the year. St Helens is located around 150km to the east of Launceston and approximately 250km to the north east of Hobart. The best way to access is obtaining a car.
