Sullivan's Cove

Sullivan's Cove is the place where the initial settlement started in Hobart. This spectacular area is located on the banks of Derwent River. It is one of the most important ports in Tasmania and the main port of Hobart. Today, more widely known as Macquarie Wharf, Sullivan's Cove offers the visitors and residents a view back in time. In fact, without a time machine! Especially in the wharf area, the original buildings from 19th century are still standing. The visitors, coming from all over the world in order to enjoy the historical atmosphere and architecture, turned the cove into one of the most popular attractions in Hobart.

Sullivan's Cove is neighbor to Hobart city centre and easily accessable from other popular destinations. Battery Point is connected to the cove by Kelly's Steps, the historical stairs built in 1839 by James Kelly, via Salamanca Place. The most recommended way to see all of these sights is strolling from one point to another, taking in magnificent waterfront views. Alternatively, relevant buses depart from the city centre and drop the visitors at the right place, reducing the time for travel and increasing the time for fun!

Sullivan's Cove is a must-see for every visitor who makes a visit to Hobart. Remember to bring your camera!!!
