Mount Wellington
Mt Wellington is not the highest mountain in Tasmania but it is a grandiose landmark that provides magnificent views of Hobart, Derwent River and Tasman Sea. It is 1271m above sea level and this makes it possible to enjoy the scene up to 100km at each direction on a fine day. The foots of the mountain is home to lovely Hobart City where the city centre is only 20 minutes by car. Furthermore, there is a 21km path to mountain summit. Don't miss a panoramic shot chance from there when the sun smiles...
By the way, Mt Wellington is not only a lookout but also a door to the wild. Choose just any of the numerous bushwalking tracks and discover more about the nature. This is the best way to get to the peak! Or if you prefer a challenge, choose cycling instead... On the other hand, fun doesn't necessarily require perspiring! Enjoy the barbecue facilities at the picnic places and let a horse show you around at a horseback-riding tour.
The temperature on the foots of Mt Wellington is completely different than at its peak! Below is a pretty mild climate while close to the peak, warm clothes might be needed all year around.
