Freycinet National Park
Once you have entered to Freycinet National Park, outside world is forgotten as you are submersed in nature's wonders. Pink granite mountains, white sand beaches, turquoise waters and the green wilderness form a fabulous composition of rich vibrant colors. Especially the granite mountains, which are as high as 300m, are the unique highlights of Freycinet National Park.
Freycinet National Park covers not only complete Freycinet Peninsula but also extends to Shouten Island to the south, to the small islands to the east and west, and to Cape Lodi (including Cape Tourville, Bluestone Bay and the Friendly Beaches) to the north. The total area of the national park is approximately 16800 hectares. Coles Bay and Wineglass Bay are the ideal places for great shots with a fascinating background. The vista is absolutely stunning to say the least. Furthermore, Hazards Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches at Freycinet National Park and is truly secluded. A couple of other walking tracks also end up at similarly secluded beaches. Among a variety of walking tracks with different difficulty levels, the 3 hour one, that starts from the car park and leads to spellbinding Wineglass Bay, is the best but requires sufficient level of fitness.
Attractions are abundant at Freycinet National Park. Go for kayaking, canoeing, scuba diving, swimming, sailing and give a try to many other water sports... Furthermore, there are rock climbing possibilities for those who enjoy challenges. Local flora and fauna are also very interesting and numerous Tasmanian Devils can be seen around.
Accommodation is not a big problem around Freycinet Peninsula as long as it has been booked some time ahead depending on the season. Camping in the national park requires camping permit which can be obtained from Freycinet National Park Visitor Centre at the park entrance. There are two types of passes. One is a daily pass only for Freycinet National Park while the other one is valid all year around for all national parks in Tasmania.
