Sunshine Coast

Enjoy the golden beaches and surf at Sunshine CoastThe chain of magnificent beaches that starts from north of Brisbane and continues until Rainbow Beach which is one of the best gateways to Fraser Island. There are a number of stunning beaches on this coastline where Australians love to spend a couple of weeks per year. Numerious towns attract a flood of visitors all year around. Most of them look for sun and surf while a significant number of others are also after being in the heart of nature.

Sunshine Coast is famous of its golden beaches. On the way from Brisbane to the north, the most popular places to make a stop on the coast are Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Alexandra Headland, Maroochydore, Coolum and Noosa respectively. Surfers spend their time usually at two places, Noosa and Alexander Headland. The break at both of these regions is like a magnet. Furthermore, all of these towns are ideal for a wide variety of water sports. And if you ever search for some shadow, occupy a picnic table at Noosa National Park and enjoy the wildlife around. It is a great experience to meet the cuddly koalas in their natural habitat. Moreover, make your way to a few lookouts along the hiking tracks and take some pictures of the spectacular panorama of the glanzing ocean backed by the golden beach that stretches to the horizon.

Cooloola Coast is located further north of Noosa. It is famous of its truly amazing beach that starts from Noosa Heads and continues up to Rainbow Beach for 40 Miles. In fact, this stunning beach is backed with Cooloola National Park which is also known as Great Sandy National Park. Take a 4WD and make a safari through the national park as well as on the beach. Have you ever seen 200 meters high colorful sand dunes? Well, you will see some if you extend your trip to Rainbow Beach. Remember to visit Tin Can Bay as well and have a look at the friendly dolphins of the region from nearby. If you get there at the right time, you can even hand-feed them for their breakfast.

The Hinterland of Sunshine Coast is equally impressive, to say the least... There are a few sights that should not be missed. A very interesting one of them is Glass House Mountains. Glass House Mountains are true masterpieces of the nature. They are a group of 9 mountains which were formed by volcanic activities millions of years ago. The highest one, Beerwah, is approximately 560m high while the shortest one, Tiberoowuccum, is just around 200m high. There are numerous walking trails of various difficulty where spectacular views can be taken in from each lookout. Glass House Mountains Lookout track is one of the easiest ones from which the peaks of the other mountains and the coastline all the way up to Moreton Island can be seen. The remaining 7 tracks are also worth to hike through and getting from one track to another is usually possible by car.

Did you know that Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo is also located at Sunshine Coast Hinterland? Initially started up by Bob Irwin, the zoo is nowadays planning to extend itself to 300 acres. The best of wildlife can be found inside with breathtaking shows all day around.

Sunshine Coast starts from Brisbane and ends up at Rainbow Beach. The best way to explore the region would be taking a convenient flight to Brisbane and continuing further north by car. Greyhound also makes several stops offering a comfortable journey. Heaps of accommodation is available in the area suitable for every budget.
