Cape Tribulation and Daintree Rainforest

Two World Heritage Listed areas meet up at Cape TribulationCape Tribulation is a unique spot in the world where two World Heritage Areas meet. It originally belongs to Kuku Yalanji people and it is located at the waterfront with a coast to Great Barrier Reef and is backed by the magnificent Daintree Rainforest. Where the reef touches the rainforest is indicated by a tempting sandy beach. Shortly, the vista is truly spellbinding.

The main attraction at Cape Tribulation is either relaxing on the beach or heading towards the heart of the nature. Daintree Rainforest, the oldest surviving tropical rainforest in the world, has great walking tracks for curious visitors with various difficulty grades. Many of them are also wheelchair accessible. Mt Sorrow Ridge Walk is the toughest track and requires being in extra Daintree Rainforest is World Heritage Listedgood shape. Picnic shelters are the ideal places to take a rest on most of the tracks. But the best option is definitely making a break on the beach instead. Just a hint... Dubuji and Kulki walking tracks are just a few steps away from Myall Beach. Take the guided tours in order to learn more about the history of the rainforest and the local inhabitants. Horse riding on the beach and 4WD touring are just a couple of the other attractions.

Daintree Rainforest is bordered by Daintree River on the south and Bloomfield River on the north. Daintree River is an attraction just by itself in the region. Have you ever seen a crocodile from near by? Take a cruise on Daintree River and watch these awesome creatures sunbathing here and there. Crocodiles can mostly be seen between April and September.

The lowland Daintree Rainforest can only be accessed by Daintree Ferry. It takes at least 1.5 hours from Cairns to the ferry and around 1 hour from Port Douglas. Especially over the high season, long queues in front of the ferry should be taken into account. There are various daily tours from Cairns and Port Douglas to Cape Tribulation all year around. The amount of hotels and resorts is also increasing rapidly.
