The Olgas (Kata-Tjuta)
Kata-Tjuta, The Olgas, is the second main attraction in Uluru - Kata-Tjuta National Park. It consists of 28 main dome-shaped rock formations surrounded by more than 30 others. The tallest one of these domes is known as Mount Olga which its own name to this amazing rock group. Mount Olga is almost 546m high and it is 198m higher than its nearest neighbor, Ayers Rock (Uluru).
The Olgas (Kata-Tjuta) are less famous than Uluru, so called Ayers Rock but they get equally many curios visitors due to their fascinating nature. There are two walking paths around The Olgas. The must-do for everyone is Olga Gorge Walk. It is only a 2km walking track and its main focus area is Olga Gorge. However, those who are fit in health can enjoy The Valley of the Winds Walk instead. This is a 7km long walk circulating around a few of the domes. The path is rocky. Therefore, appropriate walking shoes are needed. All tours depart prior to sunrise since in case of a hot weather forecast, this tour gets closed latest at 11am. Shortly, you snooze, you lose...
Kata-Tjuta (The Olgas) is situated approximately 30km west of Ayers Rock and over 500km southwest of Alice Springs. The easiest way to get there is making own way to Ayers Rock (preferably by plane) and hitting on the road for a further 30km.
