George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens
Botanic gardens, in general, are beautiful spots with many rare plants. But George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens are special. Located 2km north of Darwin's Business District, they are one of the few tropical botanic gardens worldwide.
The gardens are home to a fine collection of outstanding tropical plants, orchids, ferns, figs and a wide variety of palms. These plants reside in different landscapes including the rainforest, woodland, wetland, coastal plains and mangroves inside the gardens. The Fountain and the tropical waterfall are surely some of the most spectacular photo backgrounds, the Botanic Gardens offer.
Do you wonder what Aborigines think about this environment? An amazing garden walk with an Aboriginal guide can show you the gardens from a completely different point of view.
George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens are open everyday from 7am to 7pm. The Orientation Centre is open from 8.30am to 4pm on the weekends and public holidays and from 8am to 4pm during the week. The Plant Display House is open between 8.30am and 3.30pm everyday.
