Tweed Heads
Tweed Heads is not only a spectacular town but also a special landmark. It is the north most town in New South Wales and also is the border between New South Wales and Queensland. It is an unspoiled paradise, offering everything that the nature can have.
Tweed Heads and its just 2km away neighbour, Coolangatta, have numerous beaches for surfing. Moreover, Cook Island is just 600m from the coast, where diverse water activities are a part of the daily life. You'll have fun while swimming and you'll fall in love with the underwater world while "finding Nemo". A bunch of tropical and subtropical fish can be spotted in the surroundings of Cook Island. The protected species like Grey Nurse Sharks, Giant Queensland Groper and a few more comes on top of it. The friendly turtles accompany the curious visitors everywhere. The vista is truly spellbinding. Water activities continue at Tweed River as well. Contrary to discovery activities like canoeing, kayaking, water skiing and such, fishing provides a relaxing alternative. Please note that fishing is allowed at Tweed River while it is strictly forbidden around Cook Island.
Tweed Heads is proud of its fascinating beauty above the sea level as well. Mount Warning National Park is just 45km of Tweed Heads and offers a breathtaking view of the surroundings up to Gold Coast from 1157m height. Doing bushwalking is ideal to meet some of the local friendlies like koalas, wallabies, charming bird species and many more... The World Heritage Rainforest Centre in Murwillumbah is another option to spend some time in the arms of the nature.
Tweed Heads is around 830km north of Sydney and just 105km south of Brisbane. Driving there from Sydney would take over 10 hours if not longer. The best transportation option is simply flying to Coolangatta Airport.
