Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo, Sydney HarbourTaronga Zoo is one of the most magnificent places in Sydney. It is home to the finest collection of native as well as exotic species. Koalas, dingoes, Tasmanian devil and emus are just some of what you can see from a couple of meters away. Similar to numerous other exhibitions in Taronga Zoo, koala exhibition offers a unique experience to visit these cute and cuddly animals and take photos with them or let your photos taken. Just keep in mind that it is strictly forbidden to touch them. You are allowed to be alone with koalas as long as you want while prospective visitors wait outside for their turn.

Taronga Zoo is located across Sydney Harbour on the hillside. The best way to get there is taking the ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Wharf. From Taronga Wharf, it is possible to take either Skyway or the shuttle bus to arrive in the main entrance on top of the hill. It is especially recommended to make this short journey by Skyway and not to miss the opportunity to take in spectacular views of Sydney Harbour as well as of Taronga Zoo. Once you have made your way uphill, you can get a free map and decide your route all the way down. You will spend a memorable day at Taronga Zoo.

Taronga Zoo is open everyday of the year. Skyway runs between Taronga Wharf and the main entrance everyday between 9.30am and 5pm. There is a Zoo-Pass available to purchase which includes the ferry and Skyway as well as the entrance to the zoo. This pass can be obtained at Circular Quay Ferry Terminal.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the complete zoo is a smoke-free site and there is a designated smoking spot close to the main entrance.
