Sydney Beaches

The famous Bondi Beach in SydneyWell without any doubt, attraction #1 in Sydney is the beaches. Sand, sun and surf! Aussie way of life!!!

Sydney offers its guests and residents the opportunity to "lay on the beach and relax!" on 37 beaches, starting from the north end of the city until the south end. Many of these beaches are perfect for surfing while there are also a couple of beaches (Redleaf, Manly, Nielsen Park, Clovelly, Parsley Bay and Camp Cove) for those who prefer less waves. Almost all of the beaches are located just an hour away from Sydney CBD by public transport.

Among all of these, the most famous one is Bondi Beach, located southeast of Sydney. Bondi Beach is full of Sydneysiders all year around, except the short winter period. It is very popular due to its large (1 km long) white sand and the ocean here is very suitable to engage yourself with surfing. If you come unequipped, you can rent surf or boogie boards from the rental shops near the beach.

Have you actually considered spending the whole day on Bondi Beach? It is a great idea! The facilities, in the surroundings, are ideal to meet the daily needs. Are you hungry? You can find delicious food at the surrounding cafes and restaurants. Are you looking for another attraction than surfing or working on tan? You can play volleyball, run around with rollerblades or simply take a walk at the park right behind the beach. For those who do not want to jump between the waves, there are two saltwater swimming pools at the beginning and at the end of Bondi Beach.

The way to Bondi Beach is relatively easy. There are a few direct buses to the beach. Or take the train that brings you to Bondi Junction instead. Afterwards, you can select between taking a walk to the beach or catching a bus.

Bondi Beach, SydneyAlthough Bondi Beach is the most popular beach in Sydney, it is not the only one. Manly, "Sydney's premier beach resort", is only a ferry ride away from Circular Quay. Manly has in total of 18 beaches where the guests can select the most suitable beach for themselves among a wide variety. Ocean beaches are perfect for surfing while inlets are very pleasant for swimming. Other than the beaches, Manly as a suburb has more to offer to the guests. Manly International Jazz Festival takes place at the first week of October for 3 days every year. If you are there in winter, maybe you get the opportunity to see the Food and Wine Festival on the first week of June. Scuba diving is a main attraction in this lovely peninsula and if you are interested in discovering the underwater world, you can find many agencies that can offer you such a possibility.

If you have enough time in Sydney, you can discover the remaining 35 beaches as well. You will not regret!
