Kangaroo Valley and Surroundings

It is an ideal destination for nature and tranquility lovers. Please note, there are no more kangaroos at Kangaroo Valley since almost two centuries. Nevertheless, it is still worth to visit. The view is magnificent up to the horizon, sheltering every tone of green. By the way, the oldest suspension bridge in Australia, Hampden Bridge, is also located here since 1898 and is one of the must-sees. If you have enough time for investigating the surroundings, go for canoeing at Kangaroo River or do some bushwalking. Simply relax...

Fitzroy FallsThe surroundings of Kangaroo Valley is rich from national parks point of view. Morton National Park is the largest. Morton gets most visitors due to Pigeon House Mountain and Fitzroy Falls. Fitzroy Falls got a lot of attention at all times, as there are numerous walking tracks within reasonable distances from each other. Head to West Rim Walking Track for a quick investigation of the nature's true masterpieces. Jersey Lookout is the most loved spot by photographers since it delivers the best view of the falls, just across them. Longer walks are to be awarded with breathtaking vista over Yarrunga Valley and Twin Falls from a couple of other vantage points. The falls and the valley look stunning under a clear sky but the view through some mist is also as spectacular. For those who would like to spend more than half a day in the area, longer paths and many more lookouts are available on East Rim Walking Track. Fitzroy Falls are just 18km north of Kangaroo Valley.

If you liked the glorious view of Kangaroo Valley, you will fall in love with the sight from Cambewarra Mountain Lookout. Mount Cambewarra is 678m above the sea level and just by turning from north east to south, you can observe a huge area from Broughton Creek to Sussex Inlet up to the horizon. You have to see it to believe it!

Kangaroo Valley is around 160km south west of Sydney. It takes around 1,5 hours to get there. Having an own car is definitely recommended.
