Canberra Lookouts

Canberra has been established around 600m above the sea level and has been surrounded with several mountains. Therefore, there are a couple of lookouts around the city. These offer spectacular views of not only the city centre but also all the way up to the nearest mountains. Just head to any of these lookouts on a beautiful day and get charmed by the magnificent scene from different spots.

Some of the lookouts around Canberra include Black Mountain, Red Hill, Mt Ainslie and Mt Pleasant. Would you like to hike up or take the public transport? The answer is pretty important while making a decision about which lookout you would like to target! Not every lookout is accessable by public transport. Some lookouts have only paved pathways and invite only the energetic visitors who would like to hike all the way up. Mt Ainslie is the most recommended lookout among all, maybe especially due to this reason.

For those who have a car or who are more in hiking mode, visiting Black Mountains and observing everything up to the horizon from Telstra Tower is also an option. Don't forget to bring your camera and take a great shot!

Have fun!
