Trekking in Australia
There are many interesting trekking routes in Australia. Many of them are located in national parks. Some routes can be so long that they can go through 2 states and 1 territory (like Australian Alps Walking Track in Kosciuszko National Park that takes 8 weeks on foot from the beginning to the end) while some others are managable within a couple of hours. The paths are usually indicated with signs and there are also some paths where handicapped people can also get in touch with the nature.
In order to have the maximum possible fun out of a trekking tour, the most important thing to keep in mind is having proper clothing and enough water in the backpack. Proper clothing in means of long trousers, trekking shoes and sufficient water (several liters person/day). At guided tours, guides make sure before the tour that everyone has plenty of water. Maps and a reliable mobile phone should also be obtained.
Many national parks offer camping place type of accommodation. Everyone is welcome to stay at these facilities. However, it may be necessary to get permission for entering into the park or putting up a tent. Please double check with the relevant authorities, if this is the case for your destination, and plan accordingly.
