Farmstay in Australia
Well, Australia has quite a few farms that are larger than some third world countries. Imagine having your nearest neighbour 200km away from home.
Farmstay is recommended as an interesting overnight accommodation especially to tourists who prefer to spend some time in a peaceful rural environment in Australia. Farms are usually located in the outback and the guests, who stay in the farm, have the chance to select between different comfort levels, from bunkers to luxurious. Some farms are only designed for tourists while some can demonstrate a real farm life to the guests. In both cases the guests have the possibility to be a part of the daily life in a farm. The recreational and educational activities in the farms are also different than what one could try in the city, like horseback-riding, sheep shearing, seeding and harvesting.
During the farmstays all meals are usually included in the price because due to the location of most of the farms, it is unlikely to find any restaurants in the surroundings. So the guests are very welcome to taste home-made Australian food while experiencing the Australian families' hospitality.
There are many web pages where farmstay directories can be found. One of them is Bed&Breakfast and Farmstay Australia (BBFA) web site where a list of farmstays at each state can be found.
